Some events you attend. Others, you carry home with you. For \u201cOmar Suleiman Live in Malaysia\u201d, it\u2019s the second one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over two days, Dr. Omar Suleiman<\/strong> took us through two very different but deeply connected journeys\u2014 one through the story of the Family of \u2018Imran,<\/strong> and another through the emotional landscape of Surah Al-Insan<\/strong>. Here\u2019s a look back at what we took home from both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Seerah of What Feels Impossible\u2014The Family of \u2018Imran (a.s.).<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Why does Allah (s.w.t.) highlight one particular family out of every family in human history? That was the question that opened the day. And the answer unfolded slowly, through people who lived ordinary, low-profile lives\u2014 and still became chosen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Imran (a.s.) wasn\u2019t a king or a warrior. He was, by his own community\u2019s account, simply beloved. A man of character, a servant of Allah (s.w.t.) as he should be. His wife, Hannah, made a du\u2019a\u2019<\/em> before her child was even born, praying that the child would be free, dedicated entirely to serving Allah (s.w.t.). She didn\u2019t yet know that \u2018Imran (a.s.) would pass away before the birth, or that she\u2019d become a widow while still expecting. She didn\u2019t know her child would be a daughter in a community that forbade<\/strong><\/em> women from entering the masjid<\/em>. And still, her du\u2019a\u2019 <\/em>held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That child was Maryam (a.s.)<\/strong>. And the way her guardian, Zakariya (a.s.), responded to a rule that would have kept her from worship by building her a private mihrab<\/em> so she could still serve Allah (s.w.t.) in a quiet kind of devotion that doesn\u2019t ask for recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zakariya\u2019s (a.s.) own story became one of the most moving threads of the day. Well into old age, still making du\u2019a\u2019<\/em> for a child, still holding onto hope in what looked impossible. When the answer finally came\u2014a son named Yahya, a name never given before\u2014he wasn\u2019t questioning Allah\u2019s (s.w.t.) ability. He was simply asking, what happens next?<\/em><\/strong> And when the good news arrived, the first thing he did was prostrate himself in gratitude<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are a few reminders from this session that are worth sitting with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • We don\u2019t need perfect circumstances to worship Allah (s.w.t.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Some of the greatest legacies start with a single, sincere du\u2019a\u2019.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Not every good deed needs to be witnessed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • True success isn\u2019t comfort or recognition. It\u2019s sincerity, steadfastness, and staying devoted even when the world is against you and your faith.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    A Life Worth Meeting Allah (s.w.t.) With\u2014Surah Al-Insan<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cWhat am I actually doing with the time I\u2019ve been given?\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Surah Al-Insan doesn\u2019t let you look away from that question. Dr. Omar Suleiman walked through it in a way that felt less like a lecture and more like an honest<\/strong> audit: how many hours of our lives go to nonsense? How much of our wealth is earned and spent without a second thought about where it came from? How easily do we curse a bad day, without realising we\u2019re really cursing the One who controls time itself?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    One of the most humbling reminders of the day: Allah (s.w.t.) doesn\u2019t need us<\/em><\/strong>. The world would carry on if any one of us disappeared from it. That\u2019s not a bleak thought; it\u2019s actually freeing. Because once you stop needing to be needed, you stop performing, and you can finally just serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A few reflections that stayed with us long after the session ended:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Ego is one of the biggest barriers between us and Allah (s.w.t.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • What you give up for Allah (s.w.t.) in this dunya<\/em>, is never really lost. Instead, you\u2019re promised something far better<\/strong> in return.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Good deeds are best kept quiet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Gratitude is more than a word. It\u2019s recognising that everything we have was never really ours to begin with.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
