Last 6th of March, the team at Tertib Publishing and Faith Events gathered for a special Ramadan iftar at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. It was one of those evenings that reminded us what Ramadan is really about. Not just the food on the table when the adhan arrives, but the people sitting around it.
Colleagues came with their families. Children ran around excitedly, greeting friends they hadn’t seen in a while. Some of us were introducing our loved ones to our work family for the very first time. Conversations flowed easily between tables, and the room slowly filled with the warm, lively buzz that only Ramadan gatherings seem to have.
The Joy of Breaking Fast Together
As Maghrib approached, you could feel the anticipation in the air. Plates were ready. Conversations paused. Eyes occasionally glanced toward the time.
And once it was time to break fast, the buffet line quickly filled with smiling faces. Everyone was eager. Not just for the food, but for that shared moment after a long day of fasting. The spread was incredible, and laughter carried through the room as colleagues lined up together, exchanging food recommendations and teasing each other about who took the biggest plates.
It was simple, but it felt special.
A Moment of Reflection
After light iftar, we gathered for Maghrib prayer, led by Qari Muhammad bin Ahmad Zahid. His recitation was beautiful and calming, the kind that makes a busy room suddenly feel still. Many of us closed our eyes for a moment, letting the verses settle into our hearts.
Qari Muhammad previously received the Best Recitation Award at the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, and having him lead the prayer was truly an honour for all of us.
Later in the evening, ʿIshaʾ and Terawih prayers were led by our own colleague, Alif Eady. There was something meaningful about that moment, praying together, led by someone we work with every day. It reminded us that beyond deadlines and meetings, we also share something deeper.
Spreading Joy Through Giving
One of the most heartwarming moments of the evening was the duit raya presentation. Our CEO and founder, Encik Khairul Amar, together with his mother, To’ Puan Nooraini and his wife, Puan Wan Suhaili, presented duit raya to the children of staff members, as well as to invited guests from Rumah Harapan Nur Aafiyah.
Watching the children light up with excitement, carefully holding their envelopes and showing them proudly to their parents, was a reminder of the small joys that make Ramadan so meaningful.
Moments like these stay with you long after the night ends.
A Story Told by Our Own Team
Another highlight of the evening was an emotional video montage filmed and directed by our teams from Tertib Publishing and Faith Events.
As the video played, the room fell quiet. It captured more than just scenes from the evening. It reflected the journey, the people, and the spirit that drives the work we do together. For many of us, it was one of the most memorable moments of the night.
Ending the Night Together
The night ended the way many good gatherings do—slowly.
With moreh, warm conversations and plenty of photo sessions. Groups gathered for pictures, children posed with their parents, and friends squeezed in for “just one more photo“.
No one seemed to be in a hurry to leave. And maybe that’s the best sign of a meaningful gathering. When people linger a little longer because they don’t quite want the moment to end.
More Than Just an Iftar
At its heart, the evening wasn’t just about breaking fast. It was about strengthening the bonds between colleagues, building new connections between families and friends, and creating memories that remind us why community matters so much, especially during Ramadan.
Nights like this remind us that while we may come together for work, it’s these shared moments that truly bring us closer.
And for that, we’re grateful.
